Dear Donor,
Last year the Flower City Down Syndrome Network helped a record number of families with our cash reimbursement program. This program helps to pay for social, recreational and educational activities for persons with Down syndrome. Individuals can apply and receive up to $200 to help with activities and tools to help with enhancement of life skills.

Our scholarship program was utilized by a young man attending Genesee Valley Community College. His emphasis is sports and his ambition is to become an assistant coach. He is currently participating in an internship program at St. John Fisher. The scholarship program is set up to award $1000 per year to qualified persons interested in pursuing higher education.

Our projected budget for 2006 is $60,000 and the Buddy Walk is slated to contribute 10-20% this year. Please remember, as we are staffed completely by volunteers, that every single dollar raised goes directly to the organization. Our yearly dues are only $25 per family and for that the family receives the bi-monthly newsletter ($8), cash reimbursement program (up to $200), conference reimbursement program, scholarship program, tuition reimbursement program ($50-$250), member programs ($35), website, parent meeting and parent-to-parent peer and social groups.
The Flower City Down Syndrome Network is a not-for-profit parent organization. It works tirelessly to assist local individuals with Down syndrome and their families in learning how to not just live well, but flourish, in today’s world. Flower City Down Syndrome Network services include parent-to-parent support groups, age-appropriate social groups, information and education, as well as often-needed financial and health related assistance.
The Flower City Down Syndrome Network has asked me to continue to co-chair the 10th Annual Buddy Walk scheduled for September 17th at Webster Ponds Park. I have proudly accepted and now reach out for your assistance.
The 2006 Buddy Walk is a one-mile walk around the park path and is an all-around family activity day in which the entire community is invited to participate. Last year over 1,200 people walked and this year, with the support of WROC Television and the Entercom Radio Group, we hope to double the participation and overall community impact.
Without the generous support of you and other corporate sponsors the Buddy Walk would not be possible. Please consider supporting this wonderful event again this year. I will be contacting you in the near future to discuss sponsorship opportunities.
This year the corporate sponsor remains at $750. With this, your company logo will be prominently displayed on Buddy Walk T-shirts and event signage. In addition, your company will be recognized on the day of the event as well as on television (WROC-TV8, radio (WBEE), FREETIME Magazine and our website. (www.fcdsn.com) Other sponsorship levels are available that provide higher visibility and prominence and I would be very happy to discuss those with you in detail if that interest you.
Respectfully,
Greg Snyder, Volunteer FCDSN
